Senior Linux · DevOps · Platform Engineering

Tom Tijerina

I keep production Linux quietly, relentlessly reliable — the everyday infrastructure that becomes invisible when it’s done right — and I ship real software fast by directing AI agents.

About

I’m a senior Linux, DevOps, and platform engineer with 25+ years working exclusively in Linux — RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu — across the full lifecycle from bare metal to CI/CD. For roughly four and a half years I was the sole administrator and on-call responder for the Linux production servers behind a banking SaaS serving financial-institution customers: the kind of environment where uptime is not negotiable and a quiet pager is the whole job.

What sets my output apart today is leverage. I build and operate real systems by orchestrating AI agents — treating them as a team I direct — which lets me move from idea to shipped software at a pace that used to require a whole squad. Underneath it all is the same craft: automation, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Kubernetes), and clean Bash and Python.

Property-management SaaS · AI-directed build

A full property-management platform — accounting, leasing, work orders, messaging, and an automations rule engine — that I build and operate largely by directing AI agents. It’s a live proof of the working model: one engineer, agent leverage, production-grade software.

Mainframe modernization

COBOL → Go/HTMX on Kubernetes + Terraform

A portfolio project modernizing AWS’s COBOL CardDemo credit-card application into a set of Go/HTMX microservices deployed on Kubernetes and provisioned with Terraform — the legacy-to-cloud path that regulated enterprises actually face, built end to end.
